Consultancy in Fibre Optics & Communications Cabling

Today's complex technologies and even more complex market times are creating special challenges. Potential dangers and disputes exist at every stage of a project cycle from feasibility study, through design and specification, to implementation, acceptance, operation, maintenance and repair. So who do you rely on for authoritative, independent expert technical advice when you need it?

The Experts' Expert

Expertise is a relative thing. There are times when everyone could do with some extra support. A major project or tight deadline may mean you need extra resource, or you may face a problem outside of your normal specialism. You may have a contractual dispute and need someone independent, knowledgeable and authoritative to analyse the issues and arbitrate. You may get caught in the crossfire between different departments of your organisation and need someone who can understand everyone’s perspective and explain the real issues clearly and calmly. You may be under pressure to cut costs and get things done more efficiently but need help to find out how to.
For these, and similar situations, OTT's range of technical consultancy and support services can help make your life easier!
We have been providing consultancy in our key expertise areas of fibre optics and communications cabling infrastructure for telecoms and IT networks for the last 15 years. Richard Ednay MIEE, Technical director of OTT, has 20 years of experience in fibre optics covering LANs, datacentres, SANs, MANs, and WANs. He is actively involved in setting standards within the industry, and is a member of the British Standards committees GEL 86/3 (Fibre optic systems and active devices) and TCT7/-/1 (Generic cabling). He is the UK’s Principal Expert on fibre optic cabling testing, representing the UK on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) SC86C Working Group 1 (Fibre optic systems and active devices). He is also the liaison officer between IEC SC86C and ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25 WG3 (Customer premises cabling) – the group responsible for the ISO 11801 standard.
